I've already talked about why I'm not a big fan of the Black Moon arc for the last volume, and nothing's different。 I'm actually more weirded out moving forward knowing that Chibi-Usa is at all times 900 years old。 But not as weirded out as seeing her kiss her dad。 That said, I liked the side stories at the end--I honestly wish the manga took more time to have these kinds of stories during the main arcs as part of the timeline, because they do a really nice job with fleshing out the characters a I've already talked about why I'm not a big fan of the Black Moon arc for the last volume, and nothing's different。 I'm actually more weirded out moving forward knowing that Chibi-Usa is at all times 900 years old。 But not as weirded out as seeing her kiss her dad。 That said, I liked the side stories at the end--I honestly wish the manga took more time to have these kinds of stories during the main arcs as part of the timeline, because they do a really nice job with fleshing out the characters and building up their relationships with each other。 I LOVED seeing Venus and Usagi just casually playing (Nintendo) video games together。 And I'm still thinking over the short story with Rei。 There's a moment where she and Makoto bond and she's like, "Is this the first time we've ever really talked?"--I want more of them just talking! But that's ok。 I still am enjoying the reread, and now my least favourite part is done, so everything's coming up Milhouse。 。。。more

I think I just didn't love the Nemesis/black moon/time travel story arc as much as previous ones, and Chibi-usa is really not my fave。 Her relationship with Mamoru was already a bit odd, but after she went dark she literally made out with him?? That's still her dad? That part was a little uncomfortable。 I did love her look as the Black Lady though。I was sad to see Pluto go, and I hope she's revived somehow later on。As always, I loved the Usagi/Mamoru moments, and how cute it is that they combine I think I just didn't love the Nemesis/black moon/time travel story arc as much as previous ones, and Chibi-usa is really not my fave。 Her relationship with Mamoru was already a bit odd, but after she went dark she literally made out with him?? 。。。more

The end of the Black Moon Saga。 It’s not my favorite Sailor Moon story arc- incest and time-travel paradoxes abound。 But it’s still a fun story。 I really enjoy Chibi-Usa’s development overall and learning more about the Moon Kingdom。 Plus we got to meet Diana and really get to know Pluto。 But now we’re starting my favorite arc in Volume 5。 Yay!This volume also included two short stories- Chibi Usa’s Picture Diary Beware the Transfer Student and Casablanca Memory。 The former about vampires in Chi The end of the Black Moon Saga。 It’s not my favorite Sailor Moon story arc- incest and time-travel paradoxes abound。 But it’s still a fun story。 I really enjoy Chibi-Usa’s development overall and learning more about the Moon Kingdom。 Plus we got to meet Diana and really get to know Pluto。 But now we’re starting my favorite arc in Volume 5。 Yay!This volume also included two short stories- Chibi Usa’s Picture Diary Beware the Transfer Student and Casablanca Memory。 The former about vampires in Chibi Usa’s class at school and the latter giving us some backstory about Rei。 Both are fun asides to help us better understand wel loved characters。 I’m glad they were included! 。。。more

Interesting conclusion to this particular story line! although I wish the momentum had kept up—we’re back to very episodic chapters by the end of this book and it’s not as engaging tbh。
Ann,
I'm borrowing these from a friend but these editions are definitely worth picking up for myself in the future。 Sailor moon will always have a fond space in my heart and I love revisiting/reading these! This one introduces the Black Lady arch and I have always loved the way grown up chibi usa is styled。 I also love the vampire story once this arch is wrapped up。 I'm borrowing these from a friend but these editions are definitely worth picking up for myself in the future。 Sailor moon will always have a fond space in my heart and I love revisiting/reading these! The ongoing battle against evil is temporarily won。 There is always evil to fight。 This edition continues with Translation Notes。 And also has two bonus comics that further the adventures of Chibi Usa and give Rei, Sailor Mars, some backstory。
Did not care for that sailor moon isn’t strong enough without tuxedo mask or that he makes her stronger and there was comments about over eating and the character is far from appearing to be overweight
Toni,
mildly felt like filler, and now we are officially in parts where I stopped watching the anime as a kid, so everything is new to me。

I LOVED this arc。 Like, I have problems with the。。。Freudian vibes, BUT I genuinely think this is a good series。 It hit my heart, and the reveals were well placed。 I dunno, I found the first arc to be adorably predictable, but this one was solid and even, dare I say, fantastic at times。Also as a kid I LOVED Evil! Chibi Usa。 Style icon。I will say I feel like。。。at this point, the author is just not caring that Usagi is supposed to be 14。 Like, at all。 She's drawn like a teen all the time now。I'm so I LOVED this arc。 Like, I have problems with the。。。Freudian vibes, BUT I genuinely think this is a good series。 It hit my heart, and the reveals were well placed。 I dunno, I found the first arc to be adorably predictable, but this one was solid and even, dare I say, fantastic at times。Also as a kid I LOVED Evil! I did not like this volume as much as the previous one。 It was a fun arc while it wasn't taking itself too seriously but in this volume everything becomes serious and the issues become glaringly obvious。 Something that I forgot to mention in my review of the previous volume is that I really dislike Usagi's insecurities in this arc。 I understand that she is supposed to be only 14 but I do not think that any 14 year old would get jealous of a literal child。 And then there are problems with all of I did not like this volume as much as the previous one。 It was a fun arc while it wasn't taking itself too seriously but in this volume everything becomes serious and the issues become glaringly obvious。 Something that I forgot to mention in my review of the previous volume is that I really dislike Usagi's insecurities in this arc。 I understand that she is supposed to be only 14 but I do not think that any 14 year old would get jealous of a literal child。 And then there are problems with all of the time travel stuff。 Why were Neo Queen Serenity and King Endymion not prepared for this event? Why did they willingly meet their future selves, claiming that doing so would change the future, and then go back to their normal lives and anticipate that they already know how their future lives will turn out? Why mention that there would be consequences and then go on living without worrying about the consequences?Nevertheless, I did still enjoy this volume and the arc。 The most interesting part of this arc was Sailor Pluto and I am glad that a significant portion of the story was devoted to her。 I also really enjoyed the short stories! The Chibiusa one was really cute! Though I would say that it was a bit simple。 The one focusing on Mars was really good but I was a bit uncomfortable with the age gap。 。。。more

3/5 starsWith this volume we wrap up the Black Moon story arc。 I'm pretty disappointed with my reread of Sailor Moon so far。 I just find the storytelling and character development extremely lacking。 This particular instalment had time travel, something I find is often poorly executed, and unfortunately this instance was no exception。 I also have a hard time getting along with Chibi-usa because I find her relationship with Mamoru so off-putting, and it was extremely uncomfortable to find Usagi’s 3/5 starsWith this volume we wrap up the Black Moon story arc。 I'm pretty disappointed with my reread of Sailor Moon so far。 I just find the storytelling and character development extremely lacking。 This particular instalment had time travel, something I find is often poorly executed, and unfortunately this instance was no exception。 I also have a hard time getting along with Chibi-usa because I find her relationship with Mamoru so off-putting, and it was extremely uncomfortable to find Usagi’s insecurities about Chibi-usa and Mamoru realized in this volume。 Another complaint I have is that at some point Usagi realizes she does like having Chibi-usa around, but I felt there was next to no development leading up to that moment。 I did like Chibi-usa’s character progression though, but unfortunately I don’t think any of the other characters went through any notable development。 What did impress me was the short story included following Rei。 I thought it captured the feeling of nostalgia so well, and I liked that we had a whole short devoted to her。 It added more dimension to her character。 Blog | Instagram (main account) | Instagram (manga account) | Twitter 。。。more

This is simultaneously the best and worst volume of the 4 so far。 Something happens to the only brown character/guardian (Sailor Pluto) that I'm not a fan of。 I really, really hope that we see more of her like we do in the anime。 On the other hand, the reader is introduced to one of my favorite characters of all: Wicked Lady! What an icon。 I absolutely love aged up Chibiusa。 There's a lot to enjoy about this volume: the same women empowerment and strong female friendships。 However, there is equal This is simultaneously the best and worst volume of the 4 so far。 Something happens to the only brown character/guardian (Sailor Pluto) that I'm not a fan of。 I really, really hope that we see more of her like we do in the anime。 On the other hand, the reader is introduced to one of my favorite characters of all: Wicked Lady! What an icon。 I absolutely love aged up Chibiusa。 There's a lot to enjoy about this volume: the same women empowerment and strong female friendships。 However, there is equally as much to hate about it。The problematic thing with aging up Chibiusa are a few things。 First, it's unclear how it works。 Is Chibiusa still a kid stuck in an adult(teen?) body or did she just actually mature? Her aged-up character is also used to kiss her。。。father。。。while he's brainwashed and braindead。 So there's a lot of consent issues going on there on top of the weird incest and pedophilia(?)。。idk。 None of it was necessary。 Another issue is in the end of the volume, Rei (Sailor Mars) gets more backstory in a way nobody should enjoy。 She harbors a crush on her dad's secretary and。。。he reciprocates??? Keep in mind, she's 14 years old and he watched her grow up as a toddler while working for her father。 He's like twice her age and a lot of what he says to her from flashbacks is inappropriate for adults to say to kids。 It's basically grooming。 So ya。。。nastiest volume so far as well 😔 。。。more

Really enjoyed the conclusion of the Black Moon saga。 I also enjoyed the two short stories included in the collection since it allowed us to spend a bit more time with Chibi-Usa and Rei。 I was less enthused about Black Lady kissing Tuxedo Mask because he's her FATHER。 Also, the fact that Naoko Takeuchi keeps having Endymion fall prey to mind control makes me feel like she doesn't know what to do with his character。 Really enjoyed the conclusion of the Black Moon saga。 I also enjoyed the two short stories included in the collection since it allowed us to spend a bit more time with Chibi-Usa and Rei。 I was less enthused about Black Lady kissing Tuxedo Mask because he's her FATHER。 Also, the fact that Naoko Takeuchi keeps having Endymion fall prey to mind control makes me feel like she doesn't know what to do with his character。 。。。more
